*Call for Nominations*

The AAIC calls on its members to submit nominations each year for any or all of the five different awards to be presented at the Annual Meeting. A list of previous winners can be found below. Awards are not necessarily given each year. Remember, awards can only be given if the Awards Committee receives nominations. Please take time to nominate those you feel are deserving of special recognition of their work.

The awards are as follows:

A.E. Thompson Career Achievement Award

This award was established to honor Dr. A.E. (Tommy) Thompson for his many achievements and lasting contributions to the AAIC and the development of industrial crops and products. This award is given to a person who throughout his or her career has made significant contributions to the development and/or utilization of industrial crops and/or products.

Outstanding Researcher Award

This award is given to a person who has conducted significant research in the field of industrial crops and/or products.

Gail H. Dahlquist Special Recognition Award

AAIC Best Paper/Poster Presentation Awards

Each division will have the option of presenting a “Best Annual Meeting Paper Award” (certificate) for oral and poster presentations.  The awards chairs and committee will determine the winners.  There must be a minimum of three oral papers or posters presented in the division session for an award to be made.

AAIC Best Journal Paper of the Year

Each division will have the option of presenting the “Best Published Paper of the Year” for each division.  The paper will be selected from those published on-line or in press, in the Industrial Crops and Products (ICP) Journal.  At least one of the authors has to be a current AAIC member.  The Division Awards Chairs will be responsible for selecting the candidate papers for their division.  The final selection will be determined by the Division Awards Chair in consultation with the Editor-in-Chief of ICP. Awards to be presented at the 2010 AAIC meeting will be chosen from papers published in 2009.

Division Awards committee members should review articles published in 2009 in ICP and forward their recommendations soon to the Editor-in-Chief for consideration and award selection.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL AWARDS

  • Nominees need not be AAIC members.
  • The AAIC is an international association. Individuals from any country may be nominated.
